UP and DOWN [The Bachelor and that Gullas Bill]

I don't really know what I'm supposed to write here. Been doing this for the whole week. Been changing my mind every second. But here's the two main topics which made an impact on me.
I was thinking of writing about that controversial and 'historical' The Bachelor ending. But wanting to write something profound about that is kind of silly now. Several critics must have raved about how that show really plays with emotions deeply. Except that I really think the ending was dead depressing yet enlightening. Two thumbs up for Melissa. She handled it with poise and elegance. On the other hand, I know it's right for Jason to follow his heart, but that won't stop me from saying that he's still a jerk. And Molly, though I admire her, is an idiot. I'd probably eat my words if they end up married. But for now, I'm pro-Melissa.
Then there's this Gullas Bill. What the heck (I'd like to have a Dalit Bill too). Pushing that is such a waste of time. Seriously, most schools in the Philippines teach in English. If not, then Tagalog or actually Taglish. And it is fine. In this structure, we all get to learn and understand English, though acceptably in different levels. Even people with no proper schooling use English in their everyday lives, with media surrounding them. I think the quality of Philippine education should be the priority. It's better for a theory to be understood well than be presented with facts nicely with overwhelming jargons and deep English words. Let's admit it, we Filipinos love to impress. But what would it do, English as a second language is useless, thus, using it as a medium of instruction should end up the same. There's no question in our competency. But the fact that English is only our second language? It makes a huge difference. That's actually where the problem comes in. Our skill is not acknowledged abroad because the country is not a primary user of the English language. In short, we have no right to teach it, gets? I know that's harsh, but again, no question on the competency. The accreditation is the problem. To reiterate, for English speakers, it's not accredited because we are not primary users of the language. It's sad. What's the point of losing your face in front of others for a 'bad grammar' and an 'atrocious writing' and undergoing extensive training when it would amount to not much? So why not just push English to be one of the primary languages of the country instead aside from Tagalog and Bisaya. Or is Bisaya now a primary language? Whichever, the three should be our languages. Just as Canada has French and English. This will really improve the 'competitiveness' of Filipinos among others.
So there. Was planning to rave longer in two separate posts but ohwell... saved me the space here in multiply. Better, I suppose.

Blog Identity Crisis

Oh God... this blog is having an identity crisis. Well, at least that is what I'm feeling towards it now. I am again placed in the middle of a dilemma about having a Blogspot blog. As you can see, I have a personal site and an online portfolio in Multiply. Now I have three accounts including this. Most of this blog's content are cross-posted to my multiply account to keep track of all the writings/postings I am doing. Thus, at the moment, I'm debating over myself whether to keep this or not. But I guess, I would. Afterall, I came this far with it already. I had been planning a major reconstruction for the new year which ended up drastically... urgh, don't remind me again, I'm gonna puke.

Anyway, the major reconstruction didn't happen and I'm still stuck with free layouts for poor incompetent bloggers who have no talent of tinkering css and html codes to create their own stunning layout design.

Wait a minute... you know what? Typing the previous paragraph made me rethink things out. That's quick I know. But I know I want to put this blog in the right direction =) That's why it's actually here. To be useful to other people. And since my username here is "yadiyadiyadaaa", I have all the flexibility in the world to write just about every topic possible. But again, I want it to be better than before. Let's see O.O

American Idol 8: Top 36 Revealed

As I've mentioned on the 25 Things About Me, this is probably the first time I would be able to finish a TV show/series after quite a long time, very long time. Who would believe that I had actually lasted 2 hours last night watching American Idol without batting my eyelashes, cursing the long commercial break (to think that it's shorter compared to Phils'), "ssshhh"-ing someone at home speaking louder than the judges, cheering, giving my unsolicited opinions on the judges' choices and of course, reading between the lines, to think that I'm not a "TV person." There must be something on AI.

On the JUDGES:

Two faves: KARA and SIMON. I thought the addition of Kara would sabotage the show. I never heard of her until she joined it. So it's like, what's AI thinking? Three isn't doing it great, why add another one who would be driven into silence by Simon. However, she's actually great! I like her better than Paula. Kara and Simon are perfect match because they really fight for what they think, they're honest and they give really good criticisms. I like it better when they clash and they both have good reasons, they both look cute . On the other hand, I believe Paula and Randy are nice, but are just accessories there to make the show funnier. LOL.

Though I inconsistently followed AI before, I have a general idea of how the show goes. Hate me for this, but I particularly love how incompetent contestants make a fool of themselves. Okay, I think that's harsh. I mean, how they are brought back to earth by the judges. I find it fascinating how or where do Americans draw their confidence to brave such kind of audition. This is where I find Kara and Simon fitting. I love both of them for being so direct to the point. And if you've watched Simon in his other shows (YouTube it if you haven't!), he has reasons why he gives harsh comments on these people. I find it nice of him. His extremely overwhelming comments, whether it be bad or good, make people rethink their future.

On Top 36!

Not everyone deserves to be there! Especially for people who faced the "sing-off". Ohwell,

NO TO TATIANA! : I read somewhere that she's already 23y/o?? I thought she's a teenager because of the way she acts! I agree with Simon, she's annoying. But she has something to give, so I guess, let America vote. I just hope Tatiana would not actually go begging and go singing over and over during the live shows..

NO TO JORGE NUNEZ: Not really a star material, well, who knows how he's gonna be. But he'll definitely be eliminated sooner or later.

YES TO JOANNA PACITTI (if she doesnt forget the lyrics), ANOOP DESAI (go geeks! and Indians ), Lil Rounds and Michael Sarver (go loving parents!) and Scott McIntyre (the next Stevie Wonder).

So these four are my faves. Oh, there's another one, the girl with a Russian sounding name. Let's see how this season would go. I am actually excited. LOL.

Vingt-Cinq Choses Au Sujet De Moi (25 Things About Me)

Once you've been tagged, you are SUPPOSED to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, goals etc... anything about you. At the end choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it is because I want to know more about you.

Tagging... Everyone who reads this. I can see you! So... Tag! You're it!

*****

1. I crave for chocolates or any sweets after a heavy meal. It's like being a smoker. It would agitate me for a while if I wouldn't be able to get a hold of any sweets. I actually bought a supply of chocolates for my convenience. Coke or any pop and Iced tea would do though.

2. I heart cold Milo (no other chocolate drink) and a variety of coffee freeze -- Nescafe Ice, Iced Cappuccino, Caffe Latte, Iced Coffee, Mocha Frapp and Coffee Frapp. I prefer drinking it in the morning .

3. I am... McAddict to McFries, McNuggets, McNuggets, McFries... and I miss the McSpaghetti in the Phils.

4. I dream of producing and directing an award-winning movie or a documentary in the future and writing my own novel that would beat Harry Potter! LOL. Dream should not be left as a dream. I love to dream and daydream. Dream on!

5. I am arachnophobic, slightly agoraphobic and myctophobic. In common terms, I hate spiders; I fear being in public places which are too crowded or packed where a stampede can occur (subway stations, rallies, open field concerts/events unless there are seats provided); I fear total darkness.

6. I am addicted to Harry Potter. I've read all the 7 novels and watched all the movies a countless of times. It's the only movie or book I exert(ed) an effort to buy or watch on its premiere or launch. My most favorite book of the series is the Prisoner of Azkaban. Aside from the Harry, Hermione, Ron and Dumbledore, I love the Weasley Twins, Draco Malfoy and Loony Lovegood. If I'm part of it, I am a Gryffindor or a nice Slytherin.

7. Seven is my number. I was born on a date with three 7s in it: 7/27/1987

8. I love to read. I do this to hibernate at night. If not, I wouldn't be able to sleep well. Just give me a book, even if I'm not reading it, it will make me fall asleep. LOL.

9. I want to have my own business in the Philippines. I already have some ideas, but the actualization of it is far from being attained yet. Soon though. Keeping my fingers crossed.

10. I love leading young people and providing them a sense of direction - sort of an inspiration (nuff said).

11. I love to observe and people watch. It is a relaxing and a mind opening hobby.

12. I prefer the company of people older than I am. One of my best/closest friends is 9 years older than me. But I have no problems dealing and being with people at my age. I learn a lot from both groups anyway.

13. I am a reserved person. I tend to be quiet at first because I want to take time knowing people to see if they're worth investing my time in. Only people close to me will hear and really witness my wits, stories, humours, etc.

14. A Camera-whore and an aspiring photographer. I love being on either side of the camera.

15. Loves taking a long walk on a cool summer night.

16. Loves the first snowfall. Well, first after a long time. LOL.

17. I am online for the most part of the day updating my blog, blog hopping, youtubing, reading online newspapers, and whatever you can do online. I can live without TV or radio as long as I have my laptop with me and an internet connection -- ironic eh? I am a Communication Research major.

18. BTW, not sure if my French is correct. Will be working on it though. I still need to practice, d'accord?

19. I love fashion but not the trend (it was not that obvious right?).

20. I play Sims 2 during my free time. I'm always drawn to RPG games. I even reached level 50 in Suikoden. I'd love to get a PS3 with the latest Suikoden installed in it.

21. I am a frustrated singer. LOL. So as a compromise, I'm looking forward to learning how to play drums (I gave up the lesson I took because of schedule conflicts last year but the instructor said I would do good with it =D), piano and guitars. Playing violin looks interesting but I dont know... it seems too complicated. And btw, yes, I danced and sang to BSB, NSYNC and other BoyBands back when I was in HS. WestLife and NSync were my faves.

22. Loves learning and discovering new things. Fine fine, nerd.

23. Loves to laugh that's why I like the American Idol. LOL. Super comedy sya for me. For every season, I only watch the audition part. This is probably the first time I'm going to watch it til it ends.

24. I hate arrogant people.

25. I tend to be a perfectionist. I want to see that my effort's worth it. So I strive for the best in everything I do. Once I commit in doing something, I'll do my best to finish it VERY well, unless something happens which is out of my control that requires me to give it up. Thus, I get irritated easily with people who are freelancers. (nuff said again)

Chinese Horosope: Rabbit Outlook for 2009

Rabbit Outlook for 2009

Rabbit

1903, 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999

Rabbit Overview

The past year may have provided the Rabbit with many challenges and difficult situations (true!), but this year will be a relief (yey!). The Rabbit has a very favorable outlook this year. Though it is not part of your usual plan, you may find that being assertive and bold will allow you to achieve unforeseen success. Your attraction to the finer life may lead you to living it. Personal relations are of great value to the Rabbit and will be emphasized throughout the year. Put your best foot forward in the year of the Ox and you will reap many benefits and rewards.

Rabbit Rating

67% (7 favorable and 5 neutral months)

Rabbit Career

This year is one of change. Though the Rabbit is not prone to taking risks, you may benefit greatly from taking bold new steps in finding the career you desire. Complacency in your current job could lead you to such actions. September and October are two months that are favorable for a change. You may want to seek a position that allows you to utilize your social skills and your abilities to relate to people on a personal level. Set your sights high and you will get what you want in this highly favorable year.

Rabbit Relationships

The Rabbit's family and friends will be a source of great pleasure for the you this year. They will offer support, encouragement and will be the wellspring for meaningful and enjoyable times. Personal relations are held in high regard and could be taken to a new level. Rabbits seeking new friends or romance should make an added effort to go out more and come in contact with others-you will be well rewarded for your efforts.

Rabbit Health

The Rabbit should not encounter any major health issues this year, but you may want to take precautions during certain times of the year. The Rabbit's sensitive constitution may leave you vulnerable to colds and flu during the winter months. You may want to get a flu shot during this time and make sure that you get plenty of rest to avoid any setbacks (I've gotten a flu shot already).

Rabbit Wealth

The Rabbit should enjoy a new level of wealth. If you are inspired to make a career change, this will prove to be a successful venture financially (I am, diba arleni?). You will be particularly pleased with some of your purchases this year, as many could relate to redecorating or changing the appeal of your home. Beware of any risky investments and continue to do the things that accumulate your level of savings.

Teehee... =) Please 2009, be my year

Oh My Gay!

An excerpt from our conversation while having lunch.

Person 1: So how's [insert guy's name]?

Person 2: Oh he's great!

Me: (Thinks) Really? I never got the impression he is. That's exaj.

P2: (Elaborating) He just came back from vacation. He went to [insert South American Country] for a week.

P1: Oh that's good. Did he go with his boyfriend?

Me: (Thinks again but...) BOYFRIEND??? I never never NEVER got the impression he has one! (Paused, munched on something and then smiled as if I knew this information already that it was not surprising at all.)

**************

He's definitely not a "prospect" because he's not my type. When I saw their picture together, I like his boyfriend more. Though yes, he's good-looking and very photogenic. He's not a very good friend, though as usual we both address each other nicely. We've gone out together on parties along with others, so somehow, I kinda knew him better but not enough for us to be close friends. Just enough though for me to be able to judge if he's "okay as a person". If you look at him, you'll get the impression he's somehow gay -- thin and nerdy, who came from a prominent school, very gentle but with a low and loud masculine voice. For the countless times I've encountered such kind of guys (having to study in UP and meeting such people in the community where I did volunteer works), I learned not to judge their sexuality until I knew an evidence confirming they're straight, bi or gay. It's also not unusual for me to see and be friends with guys whose feminine qualities are dominant and act more like a girl than a guy but are really straight. Thus, it's really hard to judge them by the way they act. This one, however, I was completely fooled.

When I first saw him, I really got confused. But I shook the perception that he might be gay off my head since probably that's just the way he is for he's "smart"/he looks smart. To cut the long story short, since we somehow interacted further, I eventually believed that he's not really gay. The more I worked with him, the more I got convinced that he isnt. But due to this popular social networking site, we were connected outside the usual venue we normally interact.

One night I saw an update that he was tagged into this photo album. The funny thing is, this photo shows him (in a puppy like expression) in a club dancing, smiling at the camera, CHEEK-to-CHEEK with this guy who has a name that I guess every Filipino guy has (Yes exaj but no it's not Juan but Michael Flores -- I have a cousin of that name and who doesnt know the famous Filipino actor of that name too?). Judging by MF's looks, he probably is a Filipino, if not, then he's definitely Asian, who grew up here. And he is good-looking . But with the photo, I judged MF to be the one who's gay. Sayang. Although, the puppy-like expression puzzled me. Though I was overcame by shock, I shunted it off aside. But I'm still open to the possibility that he might be, what's wrong with it anyway?

It's just funny how the confirmation came too quickly at the time I was least expecting it. Maybe, I wasn't just ready to accept him as that. Maybe I just got so confident and so narrow-minded that it made me think it's not possible, outside UP or CMC, where I get such revelations and just accept it like it's a normal thing. So over our sumptuous meal, the evidence was brought up. One more, sayang.
